I have been doing this for years, but I delivered a lecture in Yume Navi held in Osaka for the first time. I had to adjust the lecture to the last slot of the day because I was doing an experiment at SPring-8. I was worried whether there would be students for my lecture because it was the last lecture. But to my surprise there were many. The Q&A was a success too! Many students stayed to talk and associate even until the scheduled time for the last bus.
Attended the 243rd SPring-8 Seminar and delivered a talk with the title, “Conventional Superconductivity at 195 K in Hydrogen Sulfide at High Pressure”.An overview can be found here.
Attended the Future Research Initiative: Discussing Computer Nanomaterial Design, A Strategy Toward New Elements, which was held at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Kizugawa City, Kyoto. Delivered a talk with the title, “Design of high-temperature superconductivity by high pressure: Theoretical exploration of pressure-induced superconducting materials based on crystal structure prediction”. The program (Japanese) can be found here.
Attended the 1st IPHCM-KYOKUGEN Workshop held at the Institute of Physics (Vietnam) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The program (Japanese) can be found here.
Attended ACHPR-7 held at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.Presentations of our group at this conference can be found in the Achievements Page.
Mikhail submitted a milestone! "Conventional superconductivity at 190 K at high pressures"
Attended the 55th High Pressure Meeting, which was held at the Tsunemishima Campus of Tokushima University (Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture). You can find the program here.Presentations of our group at this meeting can be found in the Achievements Page.
Attended the Millennium Science Forum, Sir Martin Wood Award Ceremony. Information about the Sir Martin Wood Award can be found here.
Delivered an invited lecture at the symposium “Crystallography for the Future” commemorating the World Crystal Society. This was held at the Ito International Research Center of The University of Tokyo. The program (Japanese) can be found here.
Attended The 12th Hydrogen Quantum Atomics Research Meeting and delivered a talk with the title, “Boundary of the Phase Transition of High-Density Hydrogen at High Pressure: Search for Room-temperature Superconductivity of Highly Compressed Solid Hydrogen by First Principles Calculations”. You can find more information here.

Delivered a lecture for the second time this year at Yume Navi Live at Yume Messe Miyagi. Had some trouble with the microscopic images on the slides and the lecture was delayed a little. Despite the setback, students participated in the lecture and gathered enthusiastically for the Q&A session.

Continuing from last year, participated as an instructor in the Academic Cooking Series of Osaka University and Osaka Gas. Last year it was coupled to Asaichi Interview. This year, a red apron was prepared by Osaka University. In addition to instructing, I was able to take part in the cooking as well by burrowing a red apron! The audience was different from last time and felt a different kind of nervousness but was able to enjoy the association and talks.
Attended the 52nd EHPRG Meeting held at Lyon, France and presented posters with titles, “Review on distorted face-centered-cubic phase of yttrium” and “Band structures and band gaps of dense hydrogen-GW calculation”. Details can be found here.
The SPring-8 Long-Term Use Profile for the second half of 2014 is adopted. Implementation details (Japanese) are here.

Attended the annual Yume Navi Live in Nagoya. Have been delivering lectures for two years at Yume Navi Live. It is a great opportunity for me to teach active high-school students. The venue was close to the Nagoya port, about 1 hour from the Nagoya station. The SCMAGLEV and Railway Park was on the other side. There were not many high-school students outside, so I feared most of them have left already since I was undertaking the 7th class at the end of the day. But to my surprise, the classroom was full of enthusiastic students. Some waited after the class to ask questions, even until the time for the last bus.

Attended the Gordon Research Seminar on Research at High Pressure held at the University of New England, Maine, USA.
The SPring-8 Long-Term Use Profile for the first half of 20xx is adopted. Click here for details. Implementation details (Japanese) are here.
